Advantages
From laying the Starocrete to daily use, regular cleaning and maintenance, there are many advantages for processors and ultimately users of this building material. Here are some advantages of polyurethane concrete in an overview:
-
The short curing time makes it ideal for quick conversions and extensions
-
Chemical-resistant makes it suitable for use in laboratories, practices and workshops
-
PU concrete is impact-resistant, shockproof and resistant to scratches, abrasion and holes.
-
Can be used in many facilities due to temperature resistance from -40°C to 130°C
-
Easy to clean and disinfect
-
Non-slip and can be used according to standards such as DIN 51130 or BGR 181
Recommended Uses
Starocrete (PU concrete) is used in many branches of industry, not only in industry, but also in many smaller-scale trades. The positive characteristics, the easy cleaning with achievement of important standards and the longevity are important factors. Here are some examples of the use of PU concrete / polyurethane concrete:
-
Chemical industrial equipment
-
Pharmaceutical industry
-
Research, practices and laboratories
-
Foodstuffs industry e.g. butchery and bakery also wine press and brewery and Cheese and Dairy
Surface Preparation
-
Suitable methods are sanding or grinding. Any surfaces that have been contaminated with oils may also require chemical cleaning.
-
Use an industrial vacuum that picks up even small dust particles. The floor must be cleaned of all dusts and residues before starting to prime. Otherwise you will have various particles trapped within the coat and adhesion will be significantly weakened. The less micro-dust on the surface the less primer you will need.
-
For thin cracks it may be necessary to slice them with a cutter before filling in order to improve the anchoring of the grout.
Basecoat - Starocrete 1000
Scratchcoat
-
The scratch coat used is usually Starocrete 1000 Scratch coat. Mix Part A and Part B of the Scratchcoat in a clean bucket with Electric Stirrer according to the instructions on the technical data sheet.
-
Starting at the far corner, apply the basecoat by trowel and roller and evenly broadcast the Sand for firm grip with topcoat, into the wet product until all the basecoat is covered, except at the leading edge.
Topcoat - Starocrete TC 2000
-
It is important to select a suitable topcoat which will meet all the visual and wearing requirements. Mix the topcoat Starocrete TC 2000 as per the instruction liter. Apply the topcoat by trowel and spike roller. Use the trowel with thickness of 2 mm to get approx. coverage and after that remove the perimeter tape and protect the floor from full traffic for 7 days.
Topcoat - Starocrete TC 3000
-
It is important to select a suitable topcoat which will meet all the visual and wearing requirements. Mix the topcoat Starocrete TC 3000 as per the instruction liter. Apply the topcoat by trowel and spike roller. Use the trowel with thickness of 3 mm to get approx. coverage and after that remove the perimeter tape and protect the floor from full traffic for 7 days.
Topcoat - Starocrete TC 6000
-
It is important to select a suitable topcoat which will meet all the visual and wearing requirements. Mix the topcoat Starocrete TC 6000 as per the instruction liter. Apply the topcoat by trowel and spike roller. Use the trowel with thickness of 6 mm to get approx. coverage and after that remove the perimeter tape and protect the floor from full traffic for 7 days.
